Loons arrive before the ice is all gone.

The Pair were ready to claim their nest as we
were placing it out on the lake.

Mama turns her eggs often as seen above and
below here.

We had 2 eggs in 2006; one on May 6 and one
May 7th.

I spend many hours enjoying the Loons nest
only 30' from our shore.



The first baby hatched on May 31, 06 (above)
and the second June 1, (below)

They go in the water within an hour after
birth and ride a parents back immediately.





Sadly, one of "our" babies were injured on
July 1st and couldn't recover.

Soon after this photo, on July 24th, the baby
died. (above)


The other baby continued to grow healthy
throughout the summer.
